Demo Reel

Showcasing a variety of work, from documentary to action sports and fashion, my demonstration reel exemplifies the diversity of my extensive production background. After three years of passionately creating high-quality television programs for the PBS station in Reno, Nevada, I relocated to San Francisco where I am currently working as a freelance production specialist. Please watch my work samples for a taste of some of compelling content I’ve produced.

Ready To Ride Assembly Video

This may look like a straightforward assembly video, but what PUBLIC Bikes is doing here is revolutionary. They have upped the ante for all other bike companies by offering a beautiful, functional, pre-assembled bike that can be ordered online and shipped directly to the customer’s door. The customer only has to make a few easy installations and they’re ready to hit the road.

Living in the Big Empty | Obsidian Van Zant

Co-Producer, Videographer, Gaffer and Editor: Tyler McPherron
Client: KNPB Channel 5 Public Broadcasting

This is an excerpt from “Living in the Big Empty,” a nationally distributed HD documentary I shot, edited and co-produced while working at KNPB Channel 5 Public Broadcasting, the PBS station in Reno, Nevada. “Living in the Big Empty” is one of the best things I have ever done and I am extremely proud to say that played a major role in every aspect of the production of this program.

Losly based on “Passing Through” by Richard Menzies, this show takes the viewer to the heart of the Great Basin Desert to examine what kind of people choose to live in a place typically seen as a “wasteland.” This excerpt features the amazing story of Obsidian Van Zant, daughter of Chief Rolling Mountain Thunder. As the child of a self-proclaimed spiritual leader and architect of Thunder Mountain Monument, Obsidian had an unusual childhood, to say the least.

Living in the Big empty won a 2009 Communicator Award and a 2009 Telly Award.

We Heart Bikes Art Show

Producer, Videographer and Editor: Tyler McPherron
Client: Reno Bike Project

Reno Bike Project’s We Heart Bikes Fundraising Art Show is a one-night show celebrating the bicycle as not only an amazing form of transportation, recreation and exercise, but also as a platform for artistic expression.

A 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, the Reno Bike Project is a community bike shop dedicated to promoting cycling as an outstanding means of transportation, as well as an intelligent lifestyle choice. As a volunteer at the Reno Bike Project, I gained a solid background in bicycle building and maintenance, as well as experience delivering exceptional customer service to cyclists of all skill levels and backgrounds.

Heritage Society | Terry Oliver

Producer, Videographer, Gaffer and Editor: Tyler McPherron
Client: KNPB Channel 5 Public Broadcasting

This is an example of some of the work I did while working at the PBS station in Reno, Nevada. I love projects like this because I was responsible for creating it from conception to completion. Not only only did I shoot, light and edit this video, I also produced the piece.
